The Bermuda National Trust Museum at the Globe Hotel
Divided Loyalties: Bermuda and the American Civil War
Built over 300 years ago by Governor Day, the Globe Hotel is one of Bermuda’s oldest stone houses. Currently, the Rogues and Runners exhibit tells the story of the effect of the American Civil War on Bermuda and the boom times experienced by the people of St. George’s, in the 1860s. This sleepy town was transformed overnight into an active seaport complete with intrigue, sabotage and gun running! This tour focuses on the distinctly Bermudian perspective of the American Civil War.
