Tucker House
History Detectives: Using Clues from the Past

Typical of early Bermudian house construction, Tucker House on Water Street in St. George’s is so named because of Henry Tucker, who served as President of the Governor’s Council, 1775-1808.

How do we find out about the lives of people from the past? Come and explore objects and furniture from the times and the finds from archaeology digs. The kitchen is especially delightful, demonstrating the use of natural local resources (such as the use of palmetto leaves for brooms and bags). This tour focuses on using clues from the past to find out what life was like long ago.

P4 Teachers: Bring your students and learn about the alleged role of the Tuckers in the Gunpowder Plot of 1775. (Social Studies - P4, Module A)
