Devonshire Marsh (Marsh Lane)
The Trust is deeply concerned by the continuing unregulated development at Devonshire Marsh. The practice of dumping and filling the marsh with excavated material is considered “development” under the 1974 Development and Planning Act and requires planning approval. "Cowboy dumping" or dumping without planning approval is having damaging results on conservation areas zoned as Agricultural and Nature Reserve. Heightened enforcement and awareness of dumping regulations are needed to address this serious issue. The Trust is working with Conservation Services and the Minister of the Environment to resolve the problem.
