The Bermuda National Trust has published many fascinating and well-researched books and guides relating to Bermuda’s heritage.
The series Bermuda’s Architectural Heritage discusses the best and most interesting buildings in each parish and in the City of Hamilton, most but not all of them pre-1900. It recounts their history and describes their architecture. Ten volumes in this series have been published to date; currently being reprinted ate Devonshire Parish and St George’s.
Also available are guide books for Verdmont, Tucker House and Waterville. These are handy pocked-sized booklets packed with information about the history of the buildings and incorporating the latest research.
Held in Trust describes all the Trust properties including its buildings, nature reserves and collections.
For those needing help to care for an old Bermuda building, there is The Traditional Building Guide, published jointly with the Department of Planning. Another joint project is Bermuda Memorial Inscriptions published with the National Museum of Bermuda. This volume for genealogists records the graves of service men in Bermuda’s cemeteries.
